halloween 2015

hey everyone!  what a wonderful, busy time of year it is!  here is a list of some of my upcoming events:

friday, november 6 from 10 to 7 at the lamplighter restaurant in delmont.  this is our FOURTH year!  our event keeps getting better and i’m very excited to present new vendors this year.  everything is handmade by local artisans.  this is a good time to begin your holiday shopping by supporting local artists.  there is a Facebook event page that you can check out and see photos vendors have posted of their handmade wares.

sunday and monday, november 8 and 9 from 1 to 3.  this event will be at RaggZ and there is no charge.  grab your needles and ‘taste’ new yarns by trying them out knitting or crocheting your favorite stitches.  it’s a great way to see if you will enjoy working with a particular yarn without having to buy it.  refreshments will be served but space is limited, so you must reserve a spot.  monday is almost full already but there are still spaces left for sunday.

sunday, november 29, RaggZ is holding our first knitting/tea event at The Victorian Lady of Academy Hill.  this event is sold out.  there will be door prizes, a fashion show, and hat contest.  we will post pictures so you can see what you missed and maybe get a ticket early next year!

FELT FLOWERS – wednesday 11/11 from 1 to 3.  cost is $40 and includes all materials.  we will be wet felting one (or two if time allows) large flowers with a long stem.  one seat left.

SNOWMAN PURSE – thursdays 11/12, 19, and 12/3.  1 to 3 / cost $50 includes all materials.  make an adorable snowman purse.

DROP STITCH COWL – mondays 11/16 and 23.  1 to 3 / cost $40 and includes all materials.  not your usual drop stitch – silk yarn included.

STRANDED COLOR WORK – wednesday 11/18  11 to 3 / cost $45 includes pattern.  Heidi Todd Kozar will be teaching this class – learn how to do stranded color work without getting your yarns completely twisted.  we will be making a snowflake cowl and the matching mitten pattern is a bonus.  10% off your yarn for this project but must sign up and get the homework sheet and yarn before the class begins.  only a few seats left.

Plymouth Yarns Knit Col is an amazing self-striping, self-patterning yarn made in italy.  it is super wash merino – soft and WASHABLE.  this adorable skirt pattern called Tropical Fish Skirt was knit with it.  now what little girl wouldn’t want a twirly little skirt like this?  i carry this yarn is approximately 8 different color ways!  easy and adorable!

ABRACADABRA color changing yarns are in!  these amazing yarns are white but turn to purple, pink, or blue in the sunlight!  Yes i know we don’t get much of that stuff called sunlight but what child wouldn’t be excited to have a cute little sweater or scarf knitted up and see it change colors before their eyes outside.  ???

starts out like this
looks like this in the sun!

also new — tahki select yarn called ‘Poppy”.  super thick acrylic, wool, mohair yarn with sweet flowers which can be slid along the yarn so you can place them where you want.  SWEET!

i am onto a new venture – eco printing.  i am so excited to learn how to combine two of my loves – felting and nature!  i’ve attempted in 4 times now and i think i am finally catching on.  i have eco printed some wonderful scarves, wraps, wall hangings, and lamp covers.  some of these items will be for sale at the Work of our Hands on Friday and will also be available at the shop.

friday, 11/6 i will be at the work of our hands; saturday 11/14 i will be attending the indie knit and spin in regent square; friday/saturday 11/27 and 28 for thanksgiving.  sorry for any inconvenience but as you know, i am always available by appointment.

my little sweetie has healed up and seems to be doing well – getting into trouble, annoying critter as often as possible, and cuddling on my lap only when i’m concentrating on my knitting.  i’m pretty sure she has used up at least one of her 9 lives!  thanks for all the well wishes for her.

i’m blessed to have some beautiful friends with EXTRA beautiful children.  my friend, lisa, loaned me her beautiful inside and out daughter, Kelei to model my felted turbans.  thanks Kelei!  look for Kelei at our craft show friday – she makes beautiful jewelry as well!  i can’t promise if you buy one of my hats you will look at AMAZING as she does, but it’s a start.IMG_6920
