thanks everyone for your support during the steel valley yarn crawl.  it was another successful year.  next year will be our fifth event!  so we are planning some special things to commemorate it.  right now it’s all in the works, so it will be hush hush until the details are worked out.  i know i had an amazing time seeing all of you wonderful folks and hope to see you again soon!  if you have any suggestions as to how to make the crawl even better, please let us know!

the remainder of the year is going to be very busy!  so many fun things coming up including a play date scheduled on the feltLOOM, the flax scutching festival, our trip to shenandoah valley fiber festival, raggz fiber affair and wool market, some great new classes, the work of our hands, and a christmas luncheon.  check out the classes and events tab for more information.  the christmas luncheon is still in the planning stages so no date has been determined as of yet.  PLEASE NOTE the shop will be closed certain days – check the website main page for details.

kitty savel’s crochet with wires and beads class was so fun.  we were blown away by the creativity of these ladies.  photos were posted on Facebook.  the spin in was a blast and lots of fun was had by all.  we are planning on a quarterly spin-in/potluck, so stay tuned!  perhaps another in november.  the farm crawl was today and it was an amazing experience.  i purchased three gorgeous fleeces from The PrAiry and got to milk a goat.  this is going to be an annual event, so stay tuned.  we are now scheduling our potluck events for the second friday of every month.  i’m still full from the first one!  try to attend and plan on bringing the recipe for your dish!

shenandoah valley fiber festival:  bus vs car pooling??

and speaking of the shenandoah valley fiber festival (september 23/24), i’ve been trying to secure a bus for this trip.  i have a 15-passenger van on hold right now but we’re discussing whether we should go this route or simply car pool.  i have the names of those of you who indicated you were interested in joining us and i will let you know what the decision is.  it is an amazing little fiber festival in berryville virginia.

what’s new??

LYKKE needles, Chia Goo needles, extra tips and cords, new plymouth encore yarns, dream in color bohemian wrapsody (12 color ways on a one-time run and i was able to get two runs – 4 of each color – they are gorgeous!), 10″ addi turbos, and more!  and coming in october – FIBER NYMPHY DYEWORKS!  at long last!  i am so happy to announce that raggz is a proud supporter of A DOZEN local and/or indie dyers and each year i hope to build on that.  and i know that for most of them, i am the ONLY LYS who carries most of them.  i am the little guy and i want to help support other little guys.  DUSTY TREE SOAPS AND WOOL WASH, A GUY WITH TWO NEEDLES, THE PRAIRY, PEPPERMINT KNITS, SHIRSTY CAT, SPENCER HILL, YOUGHIOGHENY YARNS, THE SPUN BUNNY, UNPLANNED PEACOCK, DONE ROVING, MOUNTAIN MEADOW, IMPERIAL RANCH, G-CAT & PI, PANORAMA FIBERS.  MEADOWCROFT DYE WORKS and more to come!  Dusty Tree is making a special scent exclusive to raggz in their liquid soap and wool wash – GRAPEFRUIT!  and it will only be available HERE!!

LuLaRoe

for those of you who are fans of LuLaRoe, Jenny Tabrum is bringing her show on the road to raggz on friday november 17.  she will be with us all day.  all of their christmas prints will be out by then and they are only available for a limited time.  i have several pair of their leggings and i just love them.  so mark your calendar and come check it out!

i am going to close out on my soap box.  i want to remind everyone that shopping local is the ONLY way the small stores can survive.  everyone is buying everything on amazon, walmart, the dollar store, tuesday morning, or somewhere else online.  these companies have millions – maybe billions – so why not support a small business – a stay-at-home mom, farmers, and other small businesses.  one of these days, ALL of these small business will be wiped out by the internet.  i see it every day.  so please try to support local!  thank you – we appreciate it greatly!
