in order to make room for all the new yarns and goodies i just ordered and to prepare for the upcoming steel valley yarn crawl (see Facebook page), i am having a whopper of a sale!

50% off the following:  ALL cascade, ALL jojoland (including 100% cashmere), ALL crystal palace, ALL knit one crochet too, ALL scrumptious as well as six wooden crates and the treasure chest.  that’s a LOTTA yarn!  sale runs through saturday July 25th!  don’t dawdle tho because yesterday was only the preview sale and i sold a lot of it!

and before i forget, i will be at Ligonier Country Market next week (july 18th) so the shop will be closed.  future dates for my attendance at market will be august 15, september 19, and october 3.  sorry for any inconvenience but remember i am also open by appointment and can work around your schedule.

ANYHOO, the upcoming STEEL VALLEY YARN CRAWL is slowly approaching.  July 31 through August 9th.  i will be open every single one of these days and am very appreciative to my friends who are stepping up to help me out and assist me during the crawl.  my hours will be:  monday through saturday 10 to 5 and sundays 11 to 4.

from past experience, i have found that fiber lovers are patient if they have to wait in line.  we will do our best to keep the line moving quickly (i will have a second cashier on these days) and someone will be here to assist you if you have any questions.  i am excited about getting my three raffle baskets together.  so far i have received donations from malabrigo, skacel, brown sheep, island yarns, and a few pending.  i am also happy to announce that one of my three baskets will be for crocheters!  i have items that will be donated from the shop of course and i think you will be pleased with the selection.  REMEMBER to bring address labels or something to make filling out all those tickets go quickly and smoothly.  needless to say, i am quite excited and a bit nervous about the whole experience but i am certain it will be a lot of fun.

if you look at the yarn crawl group on ravelry, you will see there there is the possbility of a bus making the rounds.  my understanding is that this will happen on thursday august 6th.  so plan accordingly.  i am open to any and all suggestions for not only this crawl but for next year’s crawl.  i have had several good suggestions, including being open later a night or two, which i will happily do next year.  this year the hours are already printed up on the passport.  i am excited to meet new yarn lovers who havent yet experienced RaggZ’ unique atmosphere.

at this printing, bags are still available.  if you purchased your bag from me, i am having a bag decorating day on saturday july 25th.  kitty had a great suggestion – do something to you bag to make it different from the others because everyone is carrying theirs around during the yarn crawl and don’t dare set it down!   kid ewe knot yarn shop in bridgeville came up with this idea last year, so i am borrowing the idea because it sounds like fun.  SOOOOO saturday july 25th from 10 to 2 i will be providing felt flowers, fabric markers, buttons, ribbons, beads, etc for you to come and personalize your own bag.  join us if you can and if you can’t, at least tie some yarn or a ribbon or put your name on your bag.  thanks kitty and kid ewe knot for that great suggestion.

kitty spangler’s DIY model making class is this coming sunday, july 19th and we still have a space or two so contact me if you are interested.  details are on my Facebook page under ‘raggz fiber art classes’.  i havent learned how to add them to my website yet but that will happen soon.  the lovely jamie fibers heron will be accompanying kitty to assist!  i’m sure this class is going to be a lot of fun with those two!

i am anxiously awaiting a new order from skacel which is on it’s way.  new yarns include abracadabra (the yarn that changes color in the sun)  (WHAT SUN??), simplicria, trenzado, el linio, helix, and new colors in gradients.  also something i am very excited about – DIY knit-cessories – necklace tips!  have you seen these yet?  they are absolutely amazing – sort of a needle / necklace.  fabulous!  i will be making and wearing one as soon as the package arrives.  i know you will love them too!  now those are the things i am anxiously awaiting.  but i have some new yarns which are physically here at the shop as we speak:  HPKY harlequin (gorgeous color ways with a generous 600 yarns and comes with a free one skein pattern), HPKY sock hand-dyed colors, stitch sprouts stitch markers, and island yarn shades (300 yards total of 4 colors hand dyed in gradual shades).  don’t let the sock yarn scare you – you do not have to make socks!  its great for shawls, wraps, and summer tops!

i apologize for not scheduling classes yet but time seems to be passing so quickly and i just havent sat down and done this yet.  people have been asking for a beginning knitting class as well as fingerless mitts.  i plan also to schedule some classes on the feltLOOM, such as rugs, landscapes, and wall hangings.  so stay tuned.  a few samples of some of what we will be doing.
