OPENING DAY is less than a week.  i’ve been so busy rearranging the shop, stocking new inventory, bombing a bike, painting, etc., i’ve hardly had time for anything else.  suffice it to say, i’m looking very much forward to getting back into the swing of things and maintain regular hours again which will be tuesdays from 1 to 5, fridays 10 to 5, and saturdays 10 to 2.  same as last year.  OPENING DAY IS FRIDAY APRIL 7the from 10 to 5.  specials, giveaways, refreshments, and general fun and laughter will be available!  add to that babies being born and prepping for shearing day…….

youghiogheny yarns new colors have arrived as well as their new line of mon sock which is now 75 wool and 25 nylon.  they also now have mon sock heel and toe sets with a contrasting color for the heel and toe (of course),  some of them even have a bit of sparkle.

also NEW is a selection from malabrigo including baby silkpaca lace, sock, and mora (pure silk).

if you were at the pittsburgh knit and crochet last weekend, you would have seen meadow croft dye works‘ new yarn called moon lorn, a fabulous single ply in their amazing color ways.

done roving is doing some amazing things with their gradients and a big shipment of frolicking feet transitions as well as monochromatic-dyed gradient dk weight yarns are here,  i am currently working on a sample of their new kit called dk gradient builds which contains seven 68-yard skeins of gradient colors.  love working with paula’s yarn!

new colors in panorama fiber arts socky bombs are also available.

as far as needles and accessories, i now carry knitters pride needles which include karbonz and dreamz – dpns, circulars, and interchangeable sets.  i have their lace blocking wires, blocking mats, and knit blockers (the amazing multiple pin sets – a MUST have for anyone who blocks).  chiagoo lace circulars have been added as well.

handmade ceramic buttons from cynthia crane out of west virginia have arrived.  these amazingly beautiful buttons will put you in mind of beatrix potter creations.  cynthia is an amazing potter with wonderful, whimsical designs and each button, ornament, and shawl pin is handmade in WV.

wool baskets from aalta are now available as are other miscellaneous little project bags and LOTS more mesh project bags which fly out the door as soon as i put them out.  these little mesh bags are great for knitting on the go and keeping each project snug in their own little pod.

i had a great time at the pittsburgh knit and crochet festival this year, as i’m sure everyone did. many thanks to barb and ann for all their hard work and efforts!  looking forward to next year, which will be april 6, 7, and 8.  i taught an altered couture class with karen page and volunteered at the maker’s area demonstrating skacel’s electric needle felting tool, which i can order if anyone is interested in one.  i opened new accounts with several of the smaller vendors there and can’t wait to show them to you.  i will be featuring a new yarn every month this year and almost all of them will be independent dyers, spinners, or farmers, as this is where my passion lies.

THANKS to everyone who participated in the raggz fiber-bombed bike.  yes it’s yarn bombing but more as this bike has knitted, crocheted, felted, and fabric on it so we’ve pretty much covered all the bases.  we’re trying to figure out how to display it outside but am confident we will have it on display by opening day.  it’s really quite pretty.  so a shout out goes to sheila mckeever, rebecca hilko sheplar, susan gibbs, sharon murphy wagner, katy doran, debbie hannay vandermolen, carolyn ciceretti, madolyn hyde, and katie hellman!  much appreciated ladies and just wait till you see your works all put together!  no peeking till friday….

GIFT SHOPPE!!!  raggz now has a gift shop located in the front entry way.  you will find an array of gifts – some handmade and some not but a nice little selection of niceties will be available.  right now we are featuring beautiful nesting balls – after all the birds have returned and are building nests as we speak.  wouldnt it be lovely to see nests adorned with colorful yarns, ribbons, and fiber?

CLASSES are being scheduled now and will include but not limited to:  beginning knitting, wet felting, kumihimo, beaded bracelets, brioche, socks, beaded shawl, portuguese knitting and MORE!  thought i would have dates set by now but by the next blog in two weeks it will be ready – promise!  remember this is only me – i have no employees or helpers to manage any of this for me and with the farm, my schedule is quite full!

ALSO planning on doing a knit-along this year and are deciding on the pattern and a knit-night is being planned as well so stay tuned!  we will be making another bus trip to Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival in late september, so if you’re interested, let me know as soon as you can so we can figure out what size bus we will need.  the cost will depend on how many are going.  we had a blast last year and this year we plan on going on saturday instead of sunday, so no one has to get up early for work the next day.  the stash sale will be an event this year but the dates have not yet been set.  the other new event i want to get up and running is random acts of kindness.  discussion on this after i open so we can figure out how it will all work.

we’re in full swing and just four short weeks remain until april 29th.  remember there is no admission, parking is free, and it is handicapped accessible.  TWENTY-TWO vendors will be available, including SIX new ones!  check out the Facebook page here for more info on featured vendors:  https://www.facebook.com/RaggZ-fiber-affair-wool-market-2017-889267987836639/   .  there is a website as well:  http://raggzfiberaffairandwoolmarket.weebly.com

this is such a fun event and again there will be door prizes, food, and a give and take table.  and remember:  SHOP SMALL!  this show is picking up steam, as i am getting more and more requests for spaces. so we will have to move to a new venue next year but for this year (april 29 and october 21), we will remain at the delmont fire hall.
