12.12.15

i’ll make this short and sweet, as everyone is so busy this time of year.  business has been great at the shop – lots of new faces added to the familiar faces.  thanks to everyone who has been so kind to support RaggZ – you don’t know how much i appreciate it!

so most of you know by now that i will be closing for a long winter’s nap.  my last day is saturday, december 19 (regular hours 10-2).  i plan on reorganizing during my down time as well as doing some felting and i won’t have to worry about keeping the parking lot and steps ice free.  but from the way this weather has been, i may not have had to worry about snow and ice!?  i have a few upcoming events to work on as well and plan on reopening some time in late march or early april.  i am always here for a yarn emergency or visit tho so please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to come out during this time period.  just be prepared that i may be in my sweatpants.  weather permitting, i plan on having some play dates during this time period just for fun.

CHRISTMAS PARTY!

friday, december 18th will be our christmas party.  technically, it will be all day (10-6); however most of the hubbub (and food) will be after noon.  i plan on making some italian soup and buffalo chicken dip as well as some specially-decorated sugar cookies.  i will be serving coffee and hot spiced cider.  anyone wishing to bring a dish, please do but don’t feel like you have to.  just come and enjoy visiting.

HIBERNATION SALE BEGINS FRIDAY 12/18!!  EVERYTHING in the shop will be on sale, with the exception of the clearance items at the top of the stairs.  as you know, my prices are already good, so i am not able to have a blowout sale like some stores can or i end up losing on the deal, but an additional 20% off every single item will land you some fantastic bargains.  if you are looking for a last minute gift, i will also have some of my own knitted or felted items here at the shop for sale such as scarves, gnome homes, felted lamps, etc.  my handmade items will be 10% off.

UPCOMING CLASSES

these will begin after i reopen in april.  here is a partial list — stranded color work, steeking, dye your own skein, magic loop two at a time, beginning knitting, feltLOOM, wet felting, dry felting, how to choose colors for your projects, jewelry, circle weaving, and MORE!

OTHER NEW THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO:  i am having a de-stash sale some time in june.  not my stash – YOUR STASH!!  more details to come soon but how it will work is you clean out your stash, price and inventory everything, and your things will be for sale here at the shop.  a GREAT way to get rid of yarns you loved when you bought and now wonder what you were thinking when you purchased them.  (we’ve all done it – me more so than anyone else i’m sure).  anyone shopping this event must pay in cash and at the end of the event, anyone who sold items gets a gift card to RaggZ for that amount.  this is not my idea but other shops do it and everyone seems to love it.  so you can get rid of old stuff and replace it with new stuff.  your gift card will be good for one year.  i’ll talk about this more next year but start thinking about getting rid of not only yarn but needles and hooks, works in progress (!), books, etc!  i love this idea!

i am really excited about my first annual fiber market april 23rd.  if you have never visited one, your fiber fanatics will love it.  the vendors are ALL independent dyers and spinners – NO big yarn mills and everyone is fairly local – you will find amazing fibers directly from local farms, hand-dyed yarns, hand-spun yarns, and hand-dyed fiber to spin or felt with.  there may also be vendors will knitting and spinning accessories as well, but again all handmade.  a great way to support these small textile artists and farms.

i will make an effort to blog more and keep everyone posted as to the upcoming events.  meantime, have a wonderful, blessed christmas and a very happy new year.  again thanks for a wonderful year of friendships and see you in 2016!
